Living in Southern California, sometimes I forget about the beauty that is right at my doorstep. Luckily this gorgeous engagement shoot put together by the talented Constance Curtis from Constance Curtis Events reminded me just how stunning our SoCal shores are.
Constance put together this engagement party set up for her two dear friends Kara & Jason.
We had an awesome group of vendors on this shoot, Aaron Young being one of them. His photography is insane…in a good way. Here are some shots from the day.
The gorgeous flowers were done by the equally gorgeous Aly from The Vine’s Leaf. She even brought along her helper, a beautiful new baby girl. Swoon.
This “engagement party” included two of the most important things in life – Sangria and Cupcakes. Sold.
All these amazing signs were hand-made my the sweet Chanel Schafer, a visual and graphic designer. SO CUTE!
This awesome bike came all the way from some friends in Texas. Now that it’s a Californian I think it’s fitting it had its debut on the beach.
It’s a hard life having to hang out on the beach with a handful of super talented people. *sigh* 😉 A big fat thank you to Constance Curtis for asking Ribbons & Rust to be a part of this shoot and to the oh so sweet vendors that I was lucky enough to sunbathe…err…work with. Congratulations to Kara & Jason!
Hey kids! It’s been awhile! I apologise for the hiatus. I’ve discovered I have a bun in the oven and have been utterly consumed by the goings on in my uterus. I’ve been incredibly busy being a big nauseous waste. Amazing how much time being a waste can actually take up. I’m back though and with a doozie of a wedding to share with you photographed by the super talented Feather Love Photography. Allison & Matt are incredibly cool and their wedding was just as much. The wedding took place at The Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs which oozes fun and funk.
I helped Allison & Matt by designing a sign in table for them as well as their sweetheart table but Allison had a big hand in her own decor for the day. She did a lot of shopping for vintage glassware and planted succulents in them herself for the centerpieces. Take a peek at her creation. She was nice enough to let me steal some of her glassware at the end of the night. Score!
The sweetheart Table
Clearly there is no comparison between Feather Love Photography and my own photography seen below but for the sake of showing you the whole spread of the sign in table there I’m doin’ it…and then apologizing.
Palm Springs is the best. The Ace Hotel is beyond cool and this couple was so much fun. I’m so glad to have been a small part of their day. Thanks to Green Wedding Shoes for featuring this on their blog!!!
Who doesn’t love a good dinner party? I love people, noise, good food and wine, and not having to tip the valet. There is something about gathering in the comforts of a home, where there is a nearby couch for the inevitable food coma that is oh so cozy! Home dinner parties are taking on a new look now. I’m lucky enough to live in sunny Southern California where outdoor eating is a given. But now more and more people are dining sans reservation and taking to their own backyards. Take a look at these photos below for some ideas and inspiration for your own backyard get-together.
These pics are from our recent Ribbons and Rust shoot by the talented Brandon Kidd Photography. All these goodies are available for rent FYI!
Below is a dinner party that I reeeeally want to be invited to. Designed by Amorology and photographed by Jill Thomas it makes me happy just to look at it. It also makes me crave citrus.
Or how about this little ball of goodness? sigh…I just had to refill my wine glass.
Inhale good food. Inhale fresh air. =)
I hope everyone is having a good week! I thought I’d help get you through hump day by sharing this awesome shoot with you by the very talented Christine Farah. Lots of Ribbons & Rust’s props got their time to shine in this shoot. The concept was to take some fairly popular wedding trends from this past year and put a new spin on them for 2011. The result was super colorful, fun and flirty over-the-top-amazingness.
Suitcases, bowties, mustaches and more mustaches all got a facelift for the new year. The bar keeps getting raised and I love it!
The shoot was designed by Sugar & Fluff, a design house based out of L.A. who I’ve decided I love and the flowers were courtesy of Stacey from Floral Occasions who has a habit of being awesome.
Can we discuss that dress please?! Look closely…it’s made out of balloons! Wow! There is some serious creativity happening here. So fun! Thanks to Rock N Roll Bride for featuring this shoot and thanks to Sugar & Fluff for letting Ribbons & Rust be a part of such a fun shoot! Check out Christine Farah’s blog for more pictures. There is so much more to see!
So I’m super excited today because a shoot we did with the AMAZING Brandon Kidd Photography has been featured on Wedding Chicks!! Check it out here. If you’re in the planning stages of a wedding or just love them like me, this is a great site – packed to the brim with amazing ideas! Inspiration overload! =)
Now, I’ve always said that Brandon & Kristin Kidd, photog extraordinaires, could make a pile of trash look amazing, so you can imagine my excitement when he suggested a vintage camping shoot for our “day after” session using some goodies from the Ribbons & Rust collection. Despite some serious heat and some overly excited flies, the day was an absolute blast. And my dear husband is such a trooper by the way. He lets me dress him up, place him in a field and smiles when he’s asked. He is such a good sport! Check out some of the shots below.
I knew we had to incorporate this old desk. It’s one of my favorite Ribbons and Rust pieces. My husband’s too actually. When I first got it, Brian stole it and found it a home in our house. I had to remove the picture frames from it and steal it back. =)
A great display of some of R&R’s goodies and as always, a pleasure to spend time with the talented Kidds. Take a peek at their blog here! Check back soon!
I’m finally getting back in the saddle (pun totally intended) after the big Ribbons & Rust photo shoot (stay tuned for pics). My dear friend Romina has a bun in the oven and we celebrated this weekend with a cute vintage cowboy-themed baby shower. She and her hubby are planning on naming their baby boy Levi so I thought it was totally fitting!
The tabletops were simple, white table cloths with burlap runners. Super easy to do by the way! Burlap is pretty inexpensive and a great way to add a rustic touch. I simply cut strips and frayed the edges. I was impressed with myself…my manicurist was not. 😉
I have a ton of these cool chargers that definitely came in handy. And how cute is that cowboy print fabric by the way? I cut squares of it for napkins, tied each with some twine and tucked in a piece of wheat.
The gift area was fun because it gave me a little room to use some good ol’ Ribbons and Rust props. And who doesn’t love pitchfork decor? 😉 I stacked some bales of hay and placed some cute rustic pieces all around.
The dessert area was full of yummy goodness and didn’t look too shabby either! Our friend Victoria baked 80…yes 80 cupcakes! What a stud. I made cute little flags to stick into the tops that read “Lil’ Cowboy” and placed them on old soda crates.
It was a fun day and a nice departure from light blue safety-pin decor. ;)Congratulations to Romina & Rick and their little buccaneer bun in the oven.
This weekend was full of über gorgeous weddings! I’m exhausted but it was so worth it! This first wedding involves a bride after my own heart. Nicole is seriously, the sweetest, cutest button of a bride! This was another wedding at the gorgeous Villa in San Juan Capistrano, and was full of fresh, bright colors and cute details. Ribbons & Rust got to show a presence with some beautiful hanging birdcages, some rustic ladders and extra details throughout.
Remember this door? The coolest. Nicole collected the most AWESOME keys to display tags with guest’s seating assignments. I got these letters to spell out “Take a Seat”, painted them with the cool aqua color Nicole used throughout her big day and sanded them to add a little character. Who knew directions could look so cute? 😉
And of course, Ribbons & Rust had to throw a few cool bottles in the mix. Another gorgeous collections of floral goodness by Floral Occasions.
And of course, where there are trees, there are opportunities for cuteness! Nicole hung lots of pictures of her and her beau, family, friends, and old family wedding photos. Ribbons & Rust helped out with a few hanging birdcages.
The groom works in editing, so Nicole saw this and knew it HAD to be on display somewhere in The Villa. Putting his editing skills to use, Patrick put together a sweet DVD of him and his new bride to play during the evening. So cute & goosebump city!
Ladders had a star role in Nicole & Patrick’s day. One I made into a menu holder for their signature cocktails and another stood tall and sported some hanging tea lights!
A bride after my own heart! What a cute day and an even cuter couple. Congratulations Nicole & Patrick!
